Capes 4 Cal 5K was a 5K race with a 1-mile fun run that took place at Magnuson Park, Seattle, on October 8,2017. PediaPUPS formed a team to run in the Capes 4 Cal 5K to raise money for children with mitochondrial disease and their families. Mitochondrial disease is a deficiency in which the mitochondria inside the cells in the body are not able to use fuel and oxygen to make energy for the body. This run for the cause, sponsored by MitoAction.org, was the original idea of “Super Cal,” who is our very own local 11-year- old super hero who is conquering the “MitoMonster” one day at a time. This run helped raise money for Cal and kids like him.
